Baringa acknowledges the traditional custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to sky, land, sea and community. We pay our respects to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
Our school is located on Gunaikurnai land.

Communication for all
At Baringa School our goal is for all our students to be autonomous communicators. We strongly believe that ‘communication is a basic human right’ and that it is vital in all aspects of life.
A number of students at Baringa School have complex communication needs, meaning speech is not meeting their needs. For this reason, many of the students are learning to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
At Baringa School, we ensure each students’ method of communication is valued and have experience using a range of different communication systems, including, but not limited to:
-
Pragmatically Organised Dynamic Display (PODD) books and electronic systems
-
Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP) Words for Life
-
Proloquo2go
-
Touch Chat
-
Tobii Dynavox (TD) Snap
-
Key Word Sign (KWS) and Auslan
Communication is integrated and supported across all programs and areas of the curriculum at Baringa School.
